Learn the essential steps to export, or 'render', your finished video project from DaVinci Resolve into a shareable video file.
Once your edit is complete, click on the Deliver page icon (it looks like a rocket ship) at the bottom of the screen. This is DaVinci Resolve's dedicated workspace for exporting.
In the top-left 'Render Settings' panel, you can choose a preset like YouTube or Vimeo for quick setup. Alternatively, select Custom Export to manually configure the format (e.g., MP4), codec (e.g., H.264), resolution, and frame rate.
Below the format settings, enter a Filename for your video and click Browse to choose the Location where you want to save the exported file on your computer.
After configuring your settings, click the Add to Render Queue button. Your export job will appear in the 'Render Queue' panel on the right side of the screen.
In the Render Queue panel, ensure your job is selected and click the Render All button to begin the export process. A progress bar will show you how long it will take.
Pro Tips for Exporting in DaVinci Resolve
On the timeline in the Deliver page, use the I and O keys to set In and Out points. Then, in Render Settings, choose 'In/Out Range' to export only that specific section.
For social media or video platforms, the built-in presets (like YouTube 1080p) are optimized and save you from having to configure every setting manually.
Adopt a consistent file naming convention (e.g., 'ProjectName_Version_Date') to keep your exported files organized and easy to find.
Before adding to the queue, quickly review your resolution, frame rate, and format to ensure they match your project settings and delivery requirements.
