Create Your Text

Select the Type Tool from the toolbar (or press T). Click on your canvas and type your desired text. You can adjust the font, size, and color from the options bar at the top.

Open the Layer Style Panel

In the Layers panel, find your text layer. Right-click on the layer and select Blending Options... from the context menu. This will open the Layer Style dialog box.

Choose an Effect

On the left side of the Layer Style window, you'll see a list of effects like Drop Shadow, Stroke, and Bevel & Emboss. Check the box next to an effect to enable it.

Adjust the Effect Settings

Click on the name of the effect you enabled (e.g., 'Drop Shadow') to view its specific settings. Adjust parameters like opacity, distance, size, and color to customize the look. You can apply multiple effects at once.

Confirm Your Changes

Once you are satisfied with your text effect, click the OK button to apply the changes. The effects will be attached to your layer and can be edited again at any time.

Save Your Styles

In the Layer Style panel, click the New Style... button to save your custom combination of effects. You can then apply it to other layers with a single click from the Styles panel.

Copy and Paste Styles

Quickly apply the same effect to multiple layers. Right-click a layer with an effect, select Copy Layer Style, then right-click the target layer and choose Paste Layer Style.

Non-Destructive Editing

Layer Styles are non-destructive. You can double-click the effect in the Layers panel to re-open the dialog and make changes, or drag the effect to the trash icon to remove it.

If you resize your text, the effects might look wrong. Right-click the 'fx' icon on the layer and choose Scale Effects to adjust them proportionally to the new text size.
