Tired of long text overflowing into adjacent cells? Learn how to wrap text in Google Sheets to keep your data neat, organized, and fully visible within cell boundaries.
Click on the cell or drag your cursor to select a range of cells containing the text you want to wrap.
Navigate to the main menu at the top of the screen and click on Format.
In the dropdown menu, move your cursor over the Text wrapping option to reveal a sub-menu.
From the sub-menu, select Wrap. The text in your selected cell(s) will now automatically adjust to fit within the column width by creating multiple lines.
Helpful Tips for Text Wrapping
For faster access, select your cells and click the Text wrapping icon (an arrow bending over lines) in the toolbar, then choose Wrap.
To control exactly where a line breaks, double-click in the cell and press Ctrl + Enter (or Cmd + Enter on Mac).
After wrapping text, you might want to change the vertical alignment to Top or Middle for better readability. Find this option in the toolbar, usually next to the text wrapping icon.
Google Sheets automatically adjusts the row height to fit the wrapped text. You can also manually resize the row by dragging the boundary below the row number.
